Our Mission

The Excel Multiliteracy Center provides members of the UCCS community with the resources, knowledge, and skills to effectively communicate in a variety of genres, mediums, and rhetorical contexts. We serve as a site of literacy instruction, providing support to writers and communicators of all disciplines, backgrounds, and abilities. We intentionally support the UCCS mission through our efforts to encourage student success and to support institutional evaluation and assessment. Peer sessions are conversation-based, collaborative, and promote a non-hierarchical approach that values shared knowledge. Our goal is to help all members of the UCCS community grow their confidence as communicators—be it on the written page, through speech, or when using new media.
